Welcome to The Center for Secure Water (C4SW) at the University of Illinois! The Center to Secure Water is headquartered in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Our center is dedicated to creating, developing, and growing novel and transformative solutions in the water resources space.
Creating a secure water world requires ensuring safe, sufficient, and clean water access for various needs, including human consumption, agriculture, industry, and ecosystems. This entails understanding, predicting, and managing water in the coupled human-natural systems while addressing compounded risks from weather and water extremes, pollution, and climate change impacts. Ultimately, secure water aims to preserve resources, promote sustainability, build resilience, and ensure fair management for future generations.
The University of Illinois’ Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering possesses an unparalleled combination of intellectual depth and breadth, extensive experience, and a proven track record of engineering excellence with a global footprint. CEE’s collaboration with the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) further enhances its capabilities in developing transformative water sustainability solutions by tapping into cutting-edge computational resources. |
